Some of the best conversations happen when people are gathered around a table.
Sometimes they’re deep and meaningful. Sometimes someone confidently gives a Bible answer that makes absolutely no sense and everyone at the table starts laughing!
I love both.
Bible games can be such a simple way to bring faith, fellowship and fun together. They give kids a chance to learn without feeling like they’re taking a test, help teens and adults discover what they remember, and give families and church groups another reason to spend time together.
And you don’t need an elaborate event to use them. They can work just as well around the kitchen table as they do at Sunday School, youth group, Bible study, Vacation Bible School or a church gathering.
I’ve put together some of my favorite Bible game ideas for different kinds of gatherings, so you can choose what works for your group.
Which Bible Game Should I Choose?
- A big family or church-group favorite: Bible Friendly Feud
- Something fast & funny: Bible 5 Second Game
- Bible trivia lovers: Bible Jeoparty
- Kids + adults together: Bible Charades
- A fun team challenge: Bible Forbidden Words
- A church or youth-group icebreaker: Bible Mingle Bingo
- Test your Bible hymn knowledge: Bible Finish the Lyrics
- Lots of choices for different ages: Bible Ultimate Game Collection
Still not sure? Don’t overthink it. Choose something that fits the ages and personalities in your group. Sometimes the simplest game is the one that gets everyone talking.
Bible Games for the Whole Family
One of my favorite things about Bible games is that different generations can play together.
Kids may remember something from Sunday School. Parents start digging through memories they haven’t accessed in years. Grandma knows an answer immediately.
And every once in a while, the kid at the table knows something none of the adults remember.
Those are good moments.
Bible Friendly Feud
If you have a family that likes a little friendly competition, start here.
Divide into teams and try to guess the most popular answers to Bible-themed questions. You can play a few rounds after dinner or turn it into a full family game night!
And yes, someone will probably insist their answer should have been on the board.
Bible 5 Second Game
You know the answer. You absolutely know the answer.
Then someone gives you five seconds to name three of them and suddenly your mind is completely blank.
That’s what makes the Bible 5 Second Game so much fun. The game has 120 Bible-themed cards, and the race against the clock keeps the rounds moving quickly.
Bible Charades
Bible Charades is an easy choice when you have several ages playing together.
And there’s something particularly funny about watching someone silently attempt to communicate a Bible story while everyone else confidently guesses the wrong one.

Bible Games for Large Groups
Church gatherings, youth groups, retreats and fellowship events can bring together people who know each other well...and people who barely know each other at all. A good game can make that room feel smaller very quickly.
Bible Mingle Bingo
This is the one I’d reach for when the goal is getting people talking.
Instead of everyone staying beside the people they already know, Mingle Bingo gives them a reason to move around the room and start conversations.
Bible Friendly Feud
Friendly Feud is especially easy to use with a larger group because you can divide everyone into teams.
People can contribute answers, cheer for their team and enjoy the game even when they aren’t the person standing up front.
Bible Jeoparty
For the Bible-trivia crowd, this one can get competitive. Divide into teams and see how much everyone really knows.
Just don’t be surprised when the quietest person in the room turns out to be your Bible trivia expert.
Bible Forbidden Words
This one sounds easy until you try it.
Players have to get their teammates to guess a Bible-themed word without saying the forbidden words on the card. It’s the kind of game where everyone knows exactly what you’re trying to say...except your team.

Bible Games for Kids & Teens
Bible games can be a wonderful way to reinforce what kids are learning without making it feel like another worksheet.
For younger kids, Books of the Bible Scavenger Hunt turns learning where books are located into a challenge.
Bible Who Am I? lets kids use clues to identify Bible characters, while What Happened First? asks them to think about the order of Bible events.
For teens and youth groups, I’d lean toward games with more energy and interaction: Bible 5 Second Game, Bible Forbidden Words, Bible Charades or Bible Mingle Bingo.
And sometimes silly is exactly what you need. Bible Mad Libs gives groups a chance to play with words and laugh together while still keeping the activity connected to a Bible theme.
Quiet Bible Activities
Not every church or family activity needs to involve shouting answers across the room. Sometimes you need something quieter.
I suggest Word Search, Word Scramble, Finish the Phrase, Word Game, Categories, A–Z Word Race, Match the Couple, Finish the Lyrics, Dots & Boxes, or even Tic-Tac-Toe.
These can work especially well for Sunday School, Christian classrooms, Bible study gatherings or those few minutes when everyone is arriving and you need something people can begin on their own.
And quiet doesn’t have to mean boring. Put a Word Search in front of two competitive people and see what happens.
Last-Minute Printable Bible Games
Sometimes you know about the church event for three weeks. Sometimes someone asks on Saturday night if you happen to have an activity for Sunday morning.
Printable games were made for the second situation.
Choose the activity that fits your group, download the PDF, print what you need and you’re ready.
The 20-game bundle was designed so you can use one activity for something quick or mix and match several for a church event, youth group, Bible study, retreat, VBS or family gathering.
No elaborate setup. No trip to three stores looking for supplies. Just print, gather and play.

Want Several Bible Games Ready to Go?
If you lead different groups—or simply like having options—I love the flexibility of keeping a collection of games ready.
The Bible Ultimate Game Collection combines six different game sets: Bible Friendly Feud, Bible Jeoparty, Bible 5 Second Game, Bible Forbidden Words, Bible Charades, plus the 20 Printable Bible Games Bundle.
Or, if you want a collection of easy print-and-play activities, the 20 Printable Bible Games Bundle gives you icebreakers, word and puzzle games, group activities, Bible challenges and a conversation game in one download.
You don’t have to use everything at once.
Print Mingle Bingo for one church gathering. Pull out a Word Search for Sunday School. Use Who Am I? around the family table. Save the bigger team games for your next fellowship night.
That’s the beauty of having choices.
Choose what fits your group and your gathering.
The Best Bible Games Bring People Together
Faith is something you learn, but it’s also something you grow in and share together.
Around kitchen tables. In Sunday School rooms. At Bible studies. During youth group. At church picnics and retreats and ordinary Wednesday nights.
And sometimes, in between the lessons and conversations, there’s room for laughter too.
Someone will remember the answer nobody else knew. The child who surprised all the adults. The Charades clue nobody could figure out. The Friendly Feud answer everyone was certain should have been number one.
Those little moments matter. Because fellowship doesn’t always have to be formal to be meaningful. Sometimes you simply need good people, a little laughter, and a reason to gather.
